2. Ways To Get Involved

2. Ways To Get Involved

Volunteer at events

Lots of our events can only go ahead if we have volunteers. If you're not able to help on the day there are often opportunities to help beforehand with things like making decorations or food, sourcing raffle or tombola prizes, sorting stock and setting up or tidying up afterwards. Upcoming volunteering opportunities are posted HERE. This is a great way to be directly involved without a long-term commitment.

Join a Community Day

The school run Community Days throughout the year to help accomplish a specific goal, such as refurbishing the Reception outdoor area and creating Flo’s Wildlife Garden. This is a particular opportunity for those with physical skills who may be able to spare a few hours one weekend, but there are opportunities for everyone, and we achieve an awful lot in one day when we all work together!

Donate your skills

Our school community includes parents with a wide range of skills, hobbies and experiences – please don’t be modest! Tell us what you can do that you’d be willing to share to benefit the school, either as a one-off or regularly. The list is endless, but how about any of these...

Join the committee or become a Class Rep

We would always love to hear from anyone who would like to be involved! Please email us at woodsidefriendsandfamily@gmail.com. We are specifically looking for a Business Liaison Officer at the moment, as well as Class Reps for each year group. The Business Liaison Officer is a Committee position with voting rights. A description of the roles is below, but these can all be shaped and flexed depending on how you want to do them.

Through Your Employer

If your employer has a Corporate Social Responsibility Charter, they may offer small grants or financial contributions, offer paid time for volunteering, match funds raised or provide sponsorship for events – could you find out? Often this applies to banks and building societies, insurance companies, supermarkets, utilities providers, phone companies and car manufacturers.
